About

For a good portion of my 20s and 30s, I was in committed relationships: first a boyfriend I lived with and then a husband. For most of my adult life I always had a companion for adventures and laughter and commiseration. Even when I wasn’t satisfied with those relationships, I wasn’t faced with navigating through the world alone. Going solo is both liberating and terrifying, filled with possibilities and many dinners alone, even when I’m out there on the dating scene.

Plus, the only experience of dating I have to draw on is from my college and immediately post-college self, who wasn’t too savvy and was off the market before online dating turned respectable, or at least, mainstream. There totally should be a guide to online dating, but this blog isn’t exactly it. I was just enjoying my (mis)adventures too much not to record them.

And then I realized I wanted to write about the whole experience of being single, not just about dating. I want to tell the funny stories of weird propositions (like the one that became the name of the blog), but also dealing with the other ups and downs of journeying through this period of my life on my own.
